TYPES & DESIGN:
Walk-in Bathtubs: These are the most common "seated" designs. They feature a watertight, low-threshold door that allows the user to step directly into the tub without lifting their legs over a high side. Once inside, they sit on a molded seat that is usually at chair height, making it easy to stand up or sit down.
Standard Tubs with Built-in Bench: Many modern, larger freestanding or drop-in tubs include a wider, molded corner seat or a full-length ledge. These provide a place to sit while showering, a shelf for bathing products, or a comfortable perch for a "partial soak" or foot bath.
KEY CHARACTERISTICS:
Safety & Accessibility: The primary benefit is stability. By providing a secure, stable seat, the user can bathe without the risk of slipping or the physical strain of lowering themselves to the floor of a deep tub. Many walk-in models also include grab bars and non-slip textured surfaces.
Comfort: A seat allows for a much more relaxed bathing posture. It is ideal for long, therapeutic soaks where you don't want to be fully submerged or lying down.
Hydrotherapy Compatibility: Many walk-in tubs with seats are also equipped with massage jets, turning the seated experience into a full hydrotherapy treatment.
